Emma Watson was recently criticized for promoting the brand on her Instagram. In one Reddit post discussing Watson's support of the brand, some noted Pitt's own history with alcohol.

Alcohol isn't Pitt's only venture with the Perrin family. He also debuted the skincare brand Le Domaine in partnership with them last year.

More details of the alleged incident were made public in court papers last October, also part of the legal battle. The battle reportedly began after Jolie sold her portion of the property without Pitt's approval to the wine division of the Stoli Group, Tenute del Mondo.

In the court filings obtained by the New York Times, Jolie alleged that initial negotiations over selling her share of the winery broke down over "a nondisclosure agreement that would have contractually prohibited her from speaking outside of court about Pitt's physical and emotional abuse of her and their children."

After the allegations became public last October, Pitt's lawyer, Anne Kiley, released a statement to Vanity Fair. "Brad has owned everything he's responsible for from day one — unlike the other side — but he's not going to own anything he didn't do. He has been on the receiving end of every type of personal attack and misrepresentation. Thankfully, the various public authorities the other side has tried to use against him over the past six years have made their own independent decisions. Brad will continue to respond in court as he has consistently done," Kiley said.

"[Château Miraval] is also the place that marks the beginning of the end of our family – and a business that is centered around alcohol," the letter reportedly reads, per ET. "I was shaken by the recent imagery that was released to sell the alcohol. I find it irresponsible and not something that I would want the children to see. It reminded me of painful times. ... Miraval for me died September 2016, and everything I have seen in the years since has sadly confirmed that."

"We have a winery. I enjoy wine very, very much, but I just ran it to the ground. I had to step away for a minute. And truthfully I could drink a Russian under the table with his own vodka. I was a professional. I was good," he continued.
