Conditional discharge for thief who stole from Morrisons

A THIEF has been handed a conditional discharge despite repeatedly stealing alcohol from a supermarket in a Herefordshire market town.

Michael Negri entered guilty pleas to six counts of theft from a shop when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in May.

The court heard from prosecutor Mark Hambling that the 59-year-old had stolen two bottles of vodka worth £36 from Ross-on-Wye's Morrisons supermarket on April 30.

He had also stolen two bottles of prosecco worth £18 on March 10, two bottles of prosecco worth £18 on March 12, a bottle of gin worth £17 on March 22, a bottle of gin worth £17 on March 23, and two bottles of pinot grigio worth £20 on March 27, all from the same Morrisons supermarket in Ross.

Negri, of Old Market Close, Ross, was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay compensation of £90 to Morrisons.
