Ferrante Winery holding unique ice

Ferrante Winery is pairing ice wines with several courses for a unique dining experience.The Plain Dealer

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Ferrante Winery has scheduled an ice-wine pairing dinner experience unique in that all the wines have won awards in assorted competitions.

Seating is limited for the dinner, which is 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 3.

Winemaker Nick Ferrante will guide the four-course dinner.

While wine-pairing dinners have become more common again in the post-Covid landscape, it's fairly rare to see ice wines on menus.

Menu

• Pan-seared sea scallops, arugula, Moscato glaze. Wine: Sparkling Moscato. Award: Best of Show, American Wine Society Wine Competition.

• Homemade potato gnocchi, roasted wild mushrooms, spinach fresh herbs, light wine crème. Wine: Grand River Valley Cabernet Franc. Award: Best of Class, Dan Berger's International Wine Competition.

• Brined pork-chop lollipops, Kelly's salsa (peach, pineapple, red-bell pepper, onions, cilantro). Wine: Riesling peach reduction, Riesling quinoa, garnished with toasted coconut crusted onion rings. Wine: 2021 Grand River Valley Riesling. Award: Triple Gold, Best of Class – Dan Berger's International Wine Competition.

• Chef Kelly's homemade Vidal Blanc ice-wine tiramisu in commemorative Ferrante logo glass. Wine: 2021 Vidal Blanc Ice Wine. Award: Best of Class, American Wine Society Wine Competition.
