GREENPORT, NY — A Greenport man, 77, was arrested Saturday and charged with driving while intoxicated with an open bottle of vodka in his vehicle, police said.
The driver, Hanson Postwaite, was arrested at 12:29 am. on Route 25 near Peconic Landing in Greenport and charged with DWI, first offense; operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08 of 1 percent, first offense; failure to dim lights; driving with a suspended registration; and drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on a highway, Southold Town police said.
Southold Police received a report of a vehicle failing to maintain its lane of travel and driving slowly eastbound along Route 25, passing Peconic Landing, authorities said. The vehicle was located and stopped for failing to dim its headlight high beams and having a suspended registration, police said. He was also found to have an open bottle of vodka with in his vehicle, police said.
He was arrested, taken to the Southold Police department for processing and held for arraignment, police said.
