Belvedere creates vodka from one harvest

Dec 15, 2023Dec 15, 2023

LVMH-owned Belvedere has unveiled a ‘rare’ vodka that follows a 10-step process and uses a single harvest from one rye field.

The ‘exceptionally rare’ Belvedere 10 is made from a single harvest of organic Dankowskie Diamond rye, grown in a single field on an estate in north-east Poland.

The liquid is said to follow a 10-step creation process. Crafted annually in small batches, the liquid was rested for 10 months to ‘enhance the liquid's velvety smooth mouthfeel’ and distilled four times.

The new expression was inspired by the brand's production process in 1910, when the distillery was first established.

To make the bottling, Belvedere's distillers selected the ‘very best’ ingredients, conditions, and production process from one rye, one farm, one field, and one harvest.

The rye was planted in August in one field of the Bartężek estate, located in Poland's Masurian Lake District.

"With Belvedere 10, taste, vision and mastery collide in one flawless performance," said Francois Xavier Desplancke, president and CEO of Belvedere Vodka.

"Capturing the unedited, uncompromising mood of modern culture, Belvedere 10 and its stunning bottle are simplistic in its purity, yet architecturally magnificent. From field to bottle, the rare organic Diamond rye shines through every single step behind the creation of this opulent liquid."

Belvedere 10 offers notes of coconut, vanilla, and rich, dark cacao. It is recommended served neat and chilled, or over ice.

The bottle design is also ‘10 levels tall’ and includes chiselled facets to give a ‘diamond-like sparkle’ in tribute to the use of Diamond rye.

Belvedere 10 will be released in select European ‘hotspots’ this summer, followed by a global launch in September, including the US.

The 40% ABV vodka is priced at RRP £180 (US$223).

The spirits segment of LVMH saw revenue fall by 5% in the first quarter of 2023 as Hennessy Cognac struggled in China and the US.

The group noted ‘solid momentum’ for Belvedere vodka during the quarter.
