Cameron Kirsten is back to terrorizing Sharon on The Young and the Restless. It's been nearly 20 years since soap fans had last seen him as the character had a short run from Nov. 2003-Aug. 2004. So if you weren't watching the daytime program back then, here's what happened in his story and why Cameron is nothing but bad news.

According to Soaps in Depth, Sharon and Cameron had encountered one another in a bar after she’d fled Genoa City due to her kissing Victor Newman. She and Cameron had a one night stand which didn't end in an amicable parting of ways. He turned abusive and violent, and then surprised her with a visit to town. Cameron was there for a business deal with Newman Enterprises, but he found plenty of time to harass and taunt Sharon over their affair.

In order to keep their night together under wraps, she agreed to meet Cameron at a motel, and she said point blank nothing would ever happen between them again. This triggered another violent outburst from Cameron, and she hit him over the head with a champagne bottle so she could make her escape. At the time, Sharon thought she’d killed Cameron, but he’d actually survived the attack and her dumping his unconscious body in a dumpster, so she was unaware that the "ghost" haunting her was actually the living and breathing man she’d tried to get away from.

Turns out, the body she’d went to look at for confirmation of Cameron's death was actually that of Frank Barritt, the biological father of Sharon and Nick's daughter, Cassie. Cameron had murdered him. When Cameron did "come back from the dead," he acted as if his altercation with Sharon never happened. He even offered Nick a job at Kirsten Incorporated, which prompted her to come clean about the whole ordeal and who Cameron really is.

From there, this storyline just continued to twist. Sharon became the prime suspect in Frank's murder and reluctantly agreed to allow Cameron to fly her to one of his private islands so that she could hide out. But when the jet took off, Nick was also on the flight, which she wasn't aware of. Sharon tried to commit suicide, but Cameron wouldn't let her. Then Nick appeared and the men began fighting until Nick got the upper hand and threw Cameron out of the plane, with a parachute strapped to him.

Once they landed, and dragged Cameron to where he could be brought to justice, that was the last the two had seen of him. But now he's back and he's badder than ever. He even killed the family cat, a decision you can't come back from on any soap, so don't expect him to be sticking around for long.

The character is played by Linden Ashby who did originate the role, so this is a reunion with the cast for the actor. Viewers who enjoy supernatural television will know Ashby for his role as Sheriff Noah Stilinski in Teen Wolf. He reprised the role earlier in the year in the Paramount+ original film, Teen Wolf: The Movie. The actor is also the husband of Susan Walters who plays Diane on Young and the Restless. They’ve been married since 1986 and have two daughters.
